Coach Tim Wanamaker enters his second season as the Head Cross-Country Coach at BUF.
Prior to coming to BUF full-time, Tim taught in the Social Studies Department at Bay High School in Panama City for thirty years. During his time at Bay High, Tim was an assistant football coach (1991), head swimming coach (1999), head track & field coach (2000-2002), and head boys and girl’s cross-country coach (2000-2014).
During his time as Bay High cross-country coach, Tim led both the boy’s and girl’s teams to four team county champions and had four boys and three girls win individual county championships. In addition, three of Tim’s teams qualified for regional meets and two runners were awarded D1 scholarships.
Tim is passionate about running. He has completed six full marathons (26.2 miles), four half ironman triathlons (Gulf Coast Triathlon, Panama City Beach), numerous sprint triathlons, and over one-hundred 5K and 10K road races.
Athletic Director Nathaniel Hughes had the following to say about Coach Wanamaker. "Tim has a passion for the Lord, for BUF, and for running. His passion is contagious, and he is just the right person to lead our cross-country program here at BUF. His heart for the Lord and for his student-athletes is evidenced through his continuous effort, planning, and sacrifice. His experience and energy will lead to the growth of our cross-country program throughout the course of his leadership."
Tim is married to his wife, Mary, and they have two daughters, Rebecca and Kristen.
In addition to his role as Head Cross-Country Coach, Coach Wanamaker serves as Assistant Professor of History at BUF.
