Game 1 vs LaGrange
BUF started down 0-5 and was shooting poorly.
Thomas Curlee tried his best to pick us up as he scored the teams first 7 points of the game. A 3 pointer, a jump shot, and to finish, he cleared an offensive rebound and a layup to tie the game a 7-7. This would be the only tie of the game as they would make it 16-7 going after a 9-0 run, and 24-9 for a 17-2 run. At halftime the Eagles were down 12 at 30-42.Â
To begin the 2
nd half the deficit ballooned to 35-62. LaGrange started on a 20-5 run. As a team, BUF shot 53% at the free throw line, going 17-32. Seven of those 17 where from Henry who was the bright spot going 7-8. From the field the Eagles shot 25% (17-68) and just 16% from 3 (3-19). The Eagles lost 101-54. Not the start to the tournament they were looking for.Â

Day 2 vs HuntingtonÂ
Coach Hughes adjusted the starting lineup for this game inserting
David Pina and
Solomon Sutton. Pina took the jump ball and passed to King who passed to Henry who put in a layup for the 1
st points of the game. However, the Eagles fell behind 3-10 following a 10-1 run by Huntington. BUF responded with a run of their own started by a Pina tip in, then a 3-point shot made by
CJ McKinley off a Curlee assist. McKinley transferred to BUF from Lagrange College and he is playing this tournament back where his college basketball career began. For the next BUF basket McKinley assisted to a cutting Curlee who tied it at 10. To take the lead Isaac secured a rebound and dribbled up the floor before finding King who put it in as he was fouled. At the line he knocked down the free throw for a 10-0 BUF run. Despite this, they missed 5 attempts in the half, free throws continued to be a challenge for the Eagles as they shot just 61% in this half of play, going 8-13. They were however able to hit 5 3s and shot 45% from behind the arc in this half. With 5 minutes left and then 2:26 the Eagles trailed by 12.
Oliver Pratt found a cutting
Kalleal Jones who threw down a 2 handed dunk. The next time BUF had the ball Jones hit a jump shot. Huntington tried a 3 but missed, and Curlee grabbed the rebound and pushed it up the floor. He kicked out to Pratt for 3 and the lead was cut to 7 with 1:30 remaining. After a Huntington basket King kicked out to Pratt for 3 again who again knocked it down cutting the lead to 6 with 50 seconds left. With 2 seconds left McKinnley scored to make it 45-49. Huntington shot a 3 at the buzzer and made it to take a 7-point lead to the locker room.Â
About a minute into the 2
nd half Sutton passed to an open
Omari Henry for 3 who knocked it down and cut the lead to 4, 50-54. BUF could not keep it close though as 5 minutes in they had the lead up to 11. BUF was able to fight back, Jordan Issac hit a driving layup and then a 3 to cut it to 6 points and then later a 3 pointer by McKinley cut it to 4. Also, during this run Sutton drove down the lane and dumped off to Pina who slammed it home with one hand over a defender. An impressive posterizing slam helped build the momentum. Four points was the closest it would be in the 2
nd half. Despite the Eagles efforts Huntington had too much scoring. In the 2
nd half alone, they shot 47% from 3 and had 3 players finish the game with more than 20 points. The final was a 20-point margin 96-116.Â
Henry led the BUF scorers with 17. Pina finished with 16 points and 12 rebounds, his season highs in both and McKinley added 13 points.Â
