GRACEVILLE, Fla. — The Baptist University of Florida Lady Eagles delivered a strong performance over the weekend, sweeping all 4 home matches and setting new school records, as well as division season highs.
Game 1 - United States Sports University
In the first matchup of the day your Lady Eagles were dominant winning in 3 sets against USSU. They maintained a lead majority of the time winning 25-10 in the first set, 25-19 in the second set, and 25-18 in the third set.
Caleigh Peddie eclipsed her record for kills in a game and set the current NCCAA DII season high with 17.
Bella Sellers had 9 kills for 2
nd on the team.
Mae Owen had a season high in assists with 28, and
Kennedy Miller lead the way on defense with 10 digs.
Game 2 - Trinity College of Jacksonville
Your Lady Eagles won their second matchup of the day against TCJ. They dominated TCJ in 3 sets; in the first set they won 25-7, in the second set they won 25-13, and in the third set they won 25-9. Both
Jazira Roberts and
Kennedy Miller had 9 digs, and
Caleigh Peddie had 9 kills in this game. A 2-0 Friday for the team, opening the home schedule with 6 straight dominating set wins.
Game 3 - University of Toccoa Falls
BUF opened the day against Toccoa Falls, earning a three-set victory with scores of 25-19, 25-14, and 25-23. The Lady Eagles dominated the game, using a powerful offense and solid defense to get the sweep.
Caleigh Peddie paced the Lady Eagles' offense with 14 kills, while
Kennedy Miller led the way on defense with 15 digs.
Mae Owens recorded a team-high 32 assists, helping keep the BUF offense in rhythm. Owen set both a new school record for a 3-set match and an NCCAA DII season high
JaLa Blackwell contributed 4 aces from the service line. This set a new season high for the team for all 3-set games.
Maria Parise finished with a .750 attach percentage, and like Owen set both a new school record for a 3-set match and an NCCAA DII season high.
Game 4 - Andrew College
BUF returned to the court for its second match of the day against Andrew College. The Lady Eagles kept the momentum going, picking up another three-set sweep, 25-17, 25-15, 25-17. Peddie once again led the team offensively, recording 12 kills. This being the 4
th time Peddie has eclipsed last season's high of kills in a 3-set match at 11, she had done it 4 times in 7 opportunities. On defense Peddie had 19 digs Miller added 11 digs defensively, while Owens finished with 26 assists.
Bella Sellers led the team at the net with 4 solo blocks.
The Lady Eagles' outstanding defensive performance limited their opponents' offensive production throughout both matches. The steady pressure that BUF was able to apply on defense, along with solid execution on offense, helped the team to two wins. With the two wins on Saturday, the Lady Eagles improve their overall record to 6-2 on the season.
Mae Owen had an impressive 110 assists over the 4 games. Offensively
Caleigh Peddie had 52 kills to go along with 48 digs on defense, leading the team in both categories.
Kennedy Miller had 45 digs as well for the Eagles and is 1 of 2 players (the other being Peddie) to have played every set this season.
