Lady Eagles Fall in Opening Contest

Box Score Pensacola, FL - Saturday August 23, 2025, marked the Baptist University of Florida's first official match as a member of the NCCAA. The Lady Eagles played in three different pre-season matches before playing a match that counted. The season began on the road at Pensacola Christian College. It was a real struggle for the Lady Eagles to gain or keep momentum. From the beginning of the first set, PCC got the lead and did not look back. Down 12-17 in the first, Coach Thais Franca called timeout.  After the timeout, BUF went on a run, cutting the lead to just two points, but they could not manage to ever get the game tied or take the lead. BUF dropped the first set 19-25. In the 2nd set, BUF was able to tie the score 3 separate times despite going down 11-17 early in the set.  Near the end of the set, the Lady Eagles tied the score at 22-22, forcing a PCC timeout. Unfortunately, PCC returned to win the final three points of the set, ending 22-25. Down 0 games to 2 BUF started the third set by jumping into the lead, going up 3-1.  The PCC onslaught started soon after, ending in a 14-25 final set.
 
The BUF women fought hard in what was a challenging opening match. It is not an easy task playing a school on the road who has been around since 2016 in your first real game as a program.  Coming up next, the Lady Eagles will head to Talladega College in Talladega, Alabama, where they will play in a tournament vs both Oakwood University and Talladega College. The games start at 12 pm on the 29th and 10 am on the 30th.
