Thursday night, February 17, was a blackout for the Eagles' final home game of the season, a region matchup with Trinity College of Jacksonville.
Graceville, FL – BUF fell behind 0-6 to start the game, but
KJ Johnson hit a corner 3 to cut the deficit in half.
Jordan Isaac drove and dumped it off to
Solomon Sutton, making it 7-9 with 16:30 left. Isaac then secured a rebound and assisted
Omari Henry, who tied the game at 9-9.
Â
TCJ responded with a 12-1 run, and BUF would play from behind the rest of the night.
The drought was broken when
Joshua Good kicked it out to Johnson for a swished 3. Isaac followed with a runner in the lane to bring BUF within 3 with 9:30 left. Down 22-29, Pratt drove and kicked to Donte Hubbert-Bonner, who knocked down a jump shot. Henry drained a 3 to make it 27-29. After a TCJ score, Johnson pushed the ball ahead to Henry for a two-handed slam, cutting it to 29-31. Each time BUF tightened the game, TCJ answered. That would be the story of the night.
Â
With just under 5 minutes left in the half, BUF had cut the deficit to 6, but by halftime TCJ led 38-48.
On a positive note, for the Eagles,
Omari Henry surpassed the 400-point mark for the season during the first half.
Early in the 2nd half, BUF trailed by 16, but Henry hit a layup, followed by an Isaac free throw and then an and-1 from Henry after getting fouled driving to the basket. He converted the free throw to cut the deficit back to 10. Minutes later, Sutton passed ahead to Henry for a layup, making it 55-62 with 13:45 left.
Trailing by 13, Isaac found Sutton for a running layup. On the next possession, Sutton grabbed a rebound and gave it to Isaac, who drove the length of the floor for a layup. Isaac then assisted Henry for another layup, completing a 6-0 BUF run.
Â
Minutes later, down 11, Henry hit a corner 3 and Pratt added a layup to cut the deficit to 6 with 8 minutes left. With 7 minutes remaining, Pratt made a diving save, throwing the ball out to Johnson, who returned it to Pratt. Pratt then whipped a one-handed pass to Henry for 3, making it a 5-point game, the closest BUF had been since the 1st half.
With 4:34 left and down 8, Sutton hit a falling-away one-handed shot while being fouled and went to the line, again trimming the deficit to 5. BUF continued to push for a chance to tie or take the lead but was unable to overcome TCJ down the stretch. With 2:30 left, TCJ extended the lead to 12 and ultimately won by that margin, 72-84.
Â
Omari Henry finished with 28 points, including 4 3s that tied the BUF season high for 3s in a game. Sutton recorded a season-high 17 points, and
Jordan Isaac had 11 points, 15 rebounds, and 11 assists. First triple double in BUF history!
Oliver Pratt added 8 assists. Pratt tied the assists in a game season record and Isaac broke it.Â
