BUF Athletics would like to recognize Omari Henry as Student Athlete of the Month for his play on the basketball court in the month of November. Henry led the team in total points, steals and steals per game, 3-point percentage, he was 2nd in free throw percentage, 2nd in offensive rebounds, and 3rd in total rebounds (of those eligible during this time span). Against Weber, when the teams played in Graceville, Henry had 24 points which is a team high this season for those eligible. Henry started playing basketball as a child and his love for the game grew as he got older. Henry's father played professionally overseas for several different teams in several different countries. Henry wears 33 on the court in his father's honor but also it is one number above his father to show he's trying pave his own way and be better. Henry is from a big family; he has 7 brothers and sisters. Sports is a big part of his family; he has siblings that are athletes and his father coached him throughout his youth. The connection with Coach Hughes started in middle school, playing JV basketball at Orangewood Christian School where he was coached by Hughes. Henry played high school basketball in Orlando and after school he and Coach Hughes stayed in touch. Henry did not play in his first year out of high school, but he remained committed to the pursuit of basketball at the next level. He visited BUF over the summer he decided to come play for the Eagles.
