Box Score Graceville, FL – Saturday afternoon January 17th, the Eagles began a four-game homestand with a conference matchup against Southeastern Bible College from Mississippi. This Eagles team spent much of the first two months on the road but will play eight home games and only three away games in their final 11 regular-season contests.
For the Eagles, the starting five was:
Solomon Sutton,
Thomas Curlee,
Jordan Isaac,
Joshua Good, and
Omari Henry. The Eagles opened the game with an 8–0 run to jump out to an early lead. Sutton recorded the first two baskets, both coming off offensive rebounds and put backs. Isaac then scored the next 2 baskets on assists from Good to make it 8–0. BUF held SBC scoreless for just over seven minutes of game time.
To extend the lead to 10–3, Isaac threw an alley-oop pass to
Donte Hubert-Bonner, who slammed it home with two hands.
The lead soon narrowed, and the game was tied for the first time at 15–15. Curlee responded by scoring off a Henry assist to make it 17–15. Henry then deflected a pass, secured the steal, and finished at the rim to push the lead to 19–15.
SBC fought back to tie the game again at 19–19, but Henry drove to the basket and was fouled on the floor. He went to the line and sank both free throws to put the Eagles ahead 21–19. Henry scored the next basket off a
KJ Johnson assist to give BUF a four-point lead. After an SBC three-pointer, Johnson answered with a three of his own to restore a four-point advantage.
The Eagles never trailed in the game, and those were the only two ties. With one minute left in the half, Isaac knocked down a corner three to put BUF up six. As time wound down, Isaac drove to the basket, drew a foul, and converted both free throws to give the Eagles a 41–34 lead at halftime.
To start the second half, Curlee hit a corner three to push the lead to 10. The advantage briefly shrank to four, but Curlee answered with another three-pointer to make it a seven-point game. Curlee then scored a driving layup off a Good assist to extend the lead to nine and followed by grabbing his own rebound for a putback layup to make it 11.
Henry later came up with a steal and passed ahead to Curlee for another layup, completing an 8–0 run by Curlee himself and giving BUF a 13-point lead. With 10:45 remaining, the Eagles led by 11. Isaac found a cutting Curlee for a layup to make it a 13-point game. Isaac then scored on a layup and followed with a corner three off a Hubert-Bonner assist to push the lead to 18, BUF's largest of the game, at 64–46 with 9:22 remaining.
With 3:39 left, the lead was cut to 10 before Sutton grabbed an offensive rebound, took one dribble, and finished a layup to make it 12. On the next possession, Sutton secured a defensive rebound and pushed the ball ahead to Good, who found Curlee cutting to the basket to extend the lead to 14. Isaac then came up with a steal and took it coast-to-coast to make it a 16-point game, completing a quick 6–0 run in under 40 seconds.
After SBC scored, Isaac drilled a three-pointer from the corner nearest the bench to give the Eagles a 17-point lead with 2:17 remaining. In the end, the Eagles secured a 79–63 victory, winning by 16 points.
Jordan Isaac led all scorers, finishing with 28 points and 10 rebounds. He knocked down three three-pointers and went 5-for-6 from the free-throw line.
