Box Score Graceville, FL – Friday night, BUF faced Andrew College. The Eagles were down, and a few players, like they were Thursday, only played 9 in the contest. Set 1 was tied 6 different times, including at 10,11,13, and 18. The Eagles took the lead early but failed to create much separation. Despite this, the Lady Eagles ended strong.
Hailey Moody had blocks to win both points following an 18-18 tie and a kill to win the set 25-19. BUF ended on a 7-1 run. In set 2, the Eagles also struggled to pull away. This set had 7 ties and was tight. After a 22-22 tie, the Lady Eagles ended on a 3-0 run to take this set and go up 2 sets to none. Yet, the sweep would not happen. In set 3, BUF never led. Andrew College won 25-18. Set 4 was dissimilar; the Lady Eagles jumped out to a 6-1 lead and never surrendered it. Winning the 4
th set 25-10 and taking the match 3 sets to 1.
Nevaeh Peery is becoming the consistent setter that this team needs. The freshman from Bonifay, FL, had 36 assists Friday night in the BUF victory.
Hailey Moody had her best game of the season. She started all 4 sets, had an impressive kill percentage of .353, and added some key blocks on the defensive end. She stepped up for the Lady Eagles in this game!
Szonja Csabai had another great performance, leading the team in both blocks and kill percentage (.429). She also played in every set in this game, extending her streak of playing each set this season, as did
Isabela Acevedo, who had double-digit kills (13) and digs (16) in this game. The Lady Eagles will get a brief break as they don't play again until Friday, October 3. They will use this time for players to rest from minor injuries and to practice.
