The BUF Athletic department recognizes
Isabela Acevedo as player of the month for her play in the month of October. All season she has been the teams go-to hitter. She leads the team in kills while being 2
nd in digs. These two statistics show her versatility and knack for the ball. In the 3-set match verses Paine College, she recorded 8 service aces which was 3
rd most in a 3-set match this season for NCCAA Division II. Overall, she was 3
rd on the team in total aces. Acevedo is from Columbia, South America. She did not come to America until her senior year of high school where she played volleyball in Central Florida. Coming to America was a transition for her but by her own account "probably the best decision she has ever made." She says that she is still getting the hang of how Americans use the American system for weights and measures and Fahrenheit for the weather. When she was recruited by BUF, she connected with Coach Franca over learning to play volleyball overseas and not growing up in the states. In May she came to BUF on a visit with her mother and committed to play for the Eagles.
