BUF Athletics announced that
Wayne Albury would be the program's inaugural Head Baseball Coach. Â Albury brings thirty-seven years of coaching experience and over 800 career collegiate victories to the BUF Baseball Program. Â Albury has previously served as the Head Baseball Coach at the following institutions: Peru State College, Lambuth College, the University of Rio Grande, Pikeville College, and most recently, Lighthouse Christian College. Â
Albury issued the following statement, "I would like to thank President Cloer and Athletic Director Nathaniel Hughes for the opportunity to lead the baseball program at the Baptist University of Florida. I look forward to serving God through this role. I am excited to become a part of the BUF community." Â
At Peru State College (NAIA), where Albury served for 12 years, he holds the record for being the winningest coach in program history, with over 300 victories to his name.  During this time period, Coach Albury led Peru State to the conference tournament qualifier in 11 out of his 12 years and appeared in 2 NAIA national tournaments.  Albury has also coached 3 MLB Draftees, 3 NAIA All-Americans, 1 NAIA National Gold Glove Winner.  Albury's team was the NAIA National Champions of Character Team in 2014, and he coached his teams to seven Top-20 NAIA National Rankings. Â

Wayne Albury was the right man to lead the baseball program at BUF.  His experience, heart for the Lord, and desire to pour into the lives of young men will bring about sustained and meaningful success.  He is a wise and accomplished leader who will be a tremendous asset to the BUF community, culture, and each one of his athletes." Â
Albury has also served as an Athletic Director at both Peru State College and Lighthouse Christian College. Â In addition to his role as Head Baseball Coach, Albury will serve as the Assistant Athletic Director for Men's Athletics.
