BUF Athletics names Thais Franca as the program's first Head Women's Volleyball Coach.  Franca brings extensive experience coaching and playing experience to BUF from both the United States and internationally.  Franca previously served as the Head Women's Volleyball Coach at the University of Mary from 2014-2017.  

Franca expressed her gratitude for being chosen to lead the women's volleyball program at BUF.  "I am so very thankful and beyond excited to start a volleyball program a BUF. I want to thank Nathaniel Hughes and Dr. Cloer for the opportunity. The mission and identity of the Baptist University of Florida is very near and dear to my heart. It's a blessing to be part of the BUF family, and I'm looking forward to start a successful program."  

Prior to the University of Mary, Franca coached at St. Andrews Presbyterian College.  Franca has extensive college camp and club coaching experience in the United States and in Brazil.  

Athletic Director Nathaniel Hughes released the following statment on Coach Franca.  "It was clear from the first time we talked that Thais Franca was the perfect person to lead the women's volleyball program at BUF.  Her heart for the Lord and for others is evident.  Her wealth of knowledge and experience, coupled with her commitment to disciple and develop her athletes make me confident that she will be truly successful as the leader of our program."  

Franca played collegiately at Cal University of Pennsylvania, Florida Gulf Coast, and Hutchinson Community College.

In addition to her role as the Head Women's Volleyball Coach, Franca will serve as the Assistant Athletic Director for Women's Athletics and Senior Woman's Leader.
