Graceville, FL – The inaugural season for the Baptist University of Florida (BUF) women's volleyball team is off to a promising start after the Lady Eagles delivered a dominant performance in a five-set scrimmage against the United States Sports Academy on Saturday, August 16. In their first-ever action on the court, the Eagles showcased the spirit of excellence and commitment to teamwork that defines BUF Athletics, sweeping all five sets to secure a decisive pre-season warm-up victory. 

Despite the unofficial nature of the match, the Lady Eagles came out strong, demonstrating an immediate chemistry that allowed them to control the momentum from the first serve. They won the opening set 25-14 and continued to build on their lead, taking the second set 25-20 after trailing 2-7 early on. Set three was dominated by BUF, 25-9. Facing a closer challenge in the fourth set, the Eagles dug deep to secure a 25-21 win before closing out the final shortened set 15-8. The scrimmage provided a valuable opportunity for the team to utilize different lineups and develop their skills and strategies, all while maintaining their competitive edge. Individual stats were not official as this was only a scrimmage. 

This performance is an early display of the program's commitment to its mission: to Disciple, Develop, and Display. With their sights set on winning championships, the Lady Eagles are clearly focused on developing their players and team chemistry in these early stages of their inaugural season. 

On Saturday, August 23, BUF will play their first regular season games in a tri-match hosted by Pensacola Christian College. The first match is set to begin at 3:00 pm EST vs. John Melvin Christian College.
