Eagles win 1 in a series against a Regional opponent

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 | Box Score 4 Friday and Saturday, March 6 and 7, BUF played 2 doubleheaders in Toccoa against Toccoa Falls College. Due to schedule changes, this was the Eagles' last opponent, who they had previously played twice in Bonifay.

Game 1
The Eagles started out slow, as Junior Paulina was the only BUF player to get a hit in the first 2 innings, a single to right field. In the bottom of the 1st, TFC scored three runs. After that point, Hagan Smith shut them down, not giving up another run and allowing just three more hits during a complete game. In the top of the 3rd, Evan Wallace was walked. He then stole 2nd and advanced to 3rd on a ground out. Ivan Membreno came to the plate with 2 outs and a runner on 3rd. On the 4th pitch of the at-bat, he connected on a line drive to center field, scoring Wallace. The score in the 3rd was BUF 1, TFC 3, and that is how it would stay. In the 7th, BUF was able to load the bases following a Quienten Renfroe walk, a Wallace single, and Paulina advancing to 1st on an error, but the Eagles could not get it done in the first game of the series.

Game 2
The bats came alive for BUF right from the beginning. Xavier Taylor led off and hit a single to right. Torin Clark-Hussey was 2nd and laid down a bunt in hopes of moving Taylor, but he beat the throw to 1st to reach on a single. Membreno loaded the bases with a single to right, and Bryan Calderon brought Taylor home with a hard-hit ball to left field. The first 4 BUF batters each got hits, and they took a 1-0 lead. Trace Brooks started for the Eagles, and he got out the first three batters he faced. Xavier Taylor was 3rd up in the inning, and he hit a solo home run on a long fly ball to left. This put the Eagles up 2-0. TFC would get it back tied at 2-2, but in the 3rd BUF scored one to go up 3-2. Connor Ward singled on a line drive to right and then scored following a hit from Cale Barnes. In the bottom of the 3rd, Brooks again faced 3 batters and got all 3 out, including a strikeout.
In the top of the 4th, Taylor was up to bat with two outs and singled to left. He then stole 2nd and advanced to 3rd on a wild pitch. Clark-Hussey and Membreno were both walked, and Calderon came to the plate with the bases loaded. Calderon hit a line drive to right, and Taylor and Clark-Hussey scored easily. Membreno rounded 3rd and headed for home, diving and contorting his body to reach out with one hand, and he was safe at home. All 3 runners scored on the double from Calderon. Next up was Ward, and after 6 pitches he connected on one and sent it into center field for a double, scoring Calderon. It was now 7-2 Eagles, as they had scored 4 with 2 outs. They were not done yet, as Barnes also hit a double to center and Ward scored, making it 5 runs in the inning, all with 2 outs.
Taylor singled in his next at-bat, making him 4-4 with 1 home run, 1 RBI, 1 steal, and 3 runs. In the bottom of the 4th and 5th, Brooks allowed no runs as the Eagles led 8-2 entering the 6th. With 2 outs, Calderon was up and launched one to left field for the 2nd Eagles home run of the game. Calderon was now 3-4 with 1 home run, 5 RBIs, and 2 runs. Ward hit another double and was again brought in by a Barnes double. Ward was now 3-4 with 1 RBI and 3 runs. With this, BUF was up eight runs at 10-2. TFC scored 6 more runs, but not enough for the comeback. Austin Emmons got the opposing team to hit a pop-up to end the game. Brooks got the win and Emmons the save, as the Eagles were victorious.

Game 3
Back on Saturday for another doubleheader, the Eagles batted 1st and Taylor picked up where he left off. He hit a double to left field to start the game. Next up was Wallace, who hit one to center that scored Taylor. In the bottom of the 1st, TFC tied it, and in the 3rd took a 2-1 lead. Unlike yesterday, the bats stayed quiet for BUF and they were unable to get any other runs. The game ended 1-2.

Game 4
For BUF, Adam Gieger drew the start at pitcher. The teams were both scoreless after 2 innings of play. To lead off the 3rd, Calderon walked and then advanced to 2nd and 3rd following a ground ball and an error. Eli Albury was up with 2 outs, with Calderon on 3rd and Tucker Nix on 1st. Albury hit a ground ball to center and Calderon scored. A bad throw allowed Nix to score also, and BUF led 2-0. Over the next three times TFC batted, they would score 12 unanswered, and BUF found themselves down by 10.
In the 6th, Ashton Bailey drew a walk and Taylor came in to run for him. Taylor advanced to 2nd when Ward was hit by a pitch, and then Taylor advanced to 3rd on a fielder's choice. Barnes came up with one out, Taylor on 3rd and Korbin Odum on 1st. He singled a line drive in the gap, bringing in Taylor. Wallace came in to run for him, and then Calderon was walked to load the bases. Wallace scored on an error, and then Tucker Nix hit a single to bring in another run, making it a 3-run inning. BUF added another as Calderon scored on a fielder's choice to make it 6-12, but the momentum stopped there at 4 unanswered runs. The Eagles were unable to complete the comeback.
